Welcome to Kreft

August 3, 2020

Dear Kreft Families,

The start of the 2020-2021 school year is fast approaching.  We are doing a modified start to the school year.  Our students haven’t been in school for an extended amount of time, so by modifying the start of the school year, it allows us to support students’ social and emotional well being by providing a lower adult to child ratio for the first week of the school year.

August 25 and 26- First grade students only.  No kindergarten students.

August 27 and 28- Kindergarten students only.  No first grade students.

August 28- Preschool begins

August 31- All students attend.

The school day is as follows for kindergarten and first grade students:

8:10-8:30 am    Buses and students drop off/arrival time

8:10-8:30 am     Breakfast served

8:30 am            Instructional day begins

8:35 am             Students counted tardy if not in the school

3:15 pm           End of instructional day

3:45 pm             All students must be picked up

Wednesdays are an early release day and our students are dismissed at 2:15.

Note:  Preschool hours are different from K-1.  Individual letters will be sent home to accepted preschool families with information about start and stop times.

The first couple weeks of school students learn many procedures to help create a safe and caring environment.  Classroom, hallway, cafeteria, bus, and playground procedures are a few of the routines taught to all students.

Our building is open and students may come in at 8:10 a.m. Prior to that time, we do not have supervision for students. School begins at 8:30. In the morning, the buses will use the drive in front of the school for arrival and parents/guardians will pull into the east parking lot to drop off students. In the morning our staff members will greet students as they exit vehicles.

After school, we will begin dismissing students at 3:15 and all students will need to be picked up by 3:45. This is a change in dismissal time from the past. For dismissal, the buses will use the east parking lot and parents/guardians will create two car lines within the front building.  Please do not arrive prior to 3:15 as our preschool students are dismissed at 3:00 and we need to allow space for their families.  This year we will be utilizing School Dismissal Manager during dismissal.  Each parent/guardian will receive more information about how to create an account and log in at a later time.  The new program will allow parents/guardians to control their student’s dismissal and allow us to dismiss students directly to vehicles. Parents/guardians will stay in the cars, enter the pick up lines which will be out in front of the school, and check in via the school dismissal manager app.  Your child will remain in the classroom until you have arrived and checked in through the app.  Once you have checked in, pull forward and your student will be brought out to your car.  Students riding the bus will be escorted to the bus by staff after school.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be allowing any visitors into the building until further notice.  Visitors include, but are not limited to: classroom volunteers, grandparents, parents/guardians for lunch, for classroom parties or waiting for pickup or dismissal.  In the event that you need to come to the building, a face covering is required and you will be asked to remain at the main entrance vestibule.  These procedures are put into place to keep our students and staff safe.  We appreciate your support and cooperation with this change.

Our Drop Off Supply/Meet the Teacher Night will be an outdoor event and is Friday, August 21 from 4:00-6:00. Students with last name L-Z may attend with one adult per family from 4:00-5:00 p.m. and students with last names A-K may attend from 5:00-6:00 p.m, The Rain date will be Monday, August 24, 2020. Teachers will be placed around the outside of the building where each student and one adult per family can meet them and drop off supplies.  Please make sure supplies are labeled with your student’s name.  Face coverings are required for all individuals coming on campus.  If you have prescription medications that your child will need at school please bring them that evening to give to our school nurse.  Prescription medications will be accepted at that time with a medical provider’s order and parent consent signed.  All inhalers at the elementary level require spacers.  Please obtain those with any inhaler prescription.  Inhalers will not be accepted for school use without them.  If you are unable to attend this event, supplies may be brought the first week of school.
